Sirloin Steak Rub

I want a steak tonight!

Be sure to make enough.  Everyone loves a juicy steak!

Make sure you have two 1 inch thick sirloin steaks ready to go...

  • 2 tsp  ancho chile powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp  ground cumin
  • 1 tsp  paprika
  • 1 tsp  garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  •  Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Get your grill going for high heat direct cooking (meat directly over the heat).

Combine all ingredients and blend thoroughly.

Sprinkle your steak rub over the meat. Keep in mind that spices, when cooked, mellow and become less strong.  This means you might want to consider putting on the rub slightly heavier than you would if you were seasoning the steak after it has been cooked.

Cook until the meat reaches the desired temperature when using a meat thermometer.
